Our Services
We operate two medical clinics: our main clinic in Mareeba and a secondary clinic, open by appointment only, in Mutchilba/ Dimbulah.
Our Medical Clinics are part of the few social enterprise General Practices in Australia. Our Medical Clinics are owned and managed by Mareeba and Communities Family Healthcare Ltd. The practices are operated as a private practice with any returns invested in additional healthcare services for the local communities.
Mareeba Medical Clinic has multiple doctors and provides all General Practice services. It is also a training practice supporting medical, nursing and other health students as well as providing training for GP Registrars.
Mareeba & Dimbulah Medical Clinics are predominantly private billing with only selected consultations bulk billed.

Consultation Options & Pricing
Our Medical Clinics are able to provide the Doctors and consultations to provide the care that is right for you. There are also a number of different fees that apply to different services and different doctors within the practice. Please call the clinic if you would like more information on the different fees for consultations and other services.
Standard Consult
- Suitable for general health concerns, new symptoms, or ongoing condition management.
- Medicare Rebate $42.85
Long Consult
- Best for complex issues, multiple concerns, mental health discussions, or chronic disease management.
- Medicare Rebate $82.90
Extended Consult
- Recommended for very detailed assessments, multiple complex conditions, or in-depth mental health consultations.
- Medicare Rebate $122.15
Our Clinics are able to assist you to claim your Medicare Rebate which may be refunded through Easy Claiming at the time of the consultation to your bank account via a Debit card or card linked to your account or within 24 hours to your Medicare Linked bank account through Online Claiming.

New Patient
New patients are always welcome! To register, simply book an appointment online or give us a call. Remember to bring your Medicare card to your first appointment and to arrive 15 minutes early to complete your registration paperwork. We’ll make your transition as smooth as possible.

Alexander Chapman
GP Registrar, Male, MBBS
Dr Chapman completed his medical studies at James Cook University, spending time as a doctor on the Sunshine Coast and Tasmania before then making his way back up to FNQ. He has enjoyed his time working in various hospital departments, from emergency medicine through to palliative care, but has found great enjoyment and passion moving into the General Practice field.
Dr Chapman is currently in his 5th year of practicing as a registered doctor bringing a wealth of experience into each consultation room at Mareeba Medical Clinic, loving his time getting to know the people in his local community that makes Mareeba so special.

Ahmed Ali
Dr Ali and his wife have chosen to make Mareeba their home and have welcomed their daughter here. Dr Ali is committed to staying in Mareeba, making a home for his family and providing medical services to the local community.
Dr Ali Qualified for Medicine in Egypt and has since requalified in Australia. He has over 10 years’ experience in General Practice. He is interested in all areas of practice and is keen to provide ongoing care for you and your family.

Dr Louise Burns
GP Registrar, Female, MBBS
Dr Burns is local to the Mareeba region and returning to her home base. She is currently completing her training as a Rural Generalist Registrar with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. Dr Burns is interested in all areas of General Practice and is keen to provide care to all members of the community, both within the practice as a GP and as a member of the local community.

Dr Sabine Saeidnia
General Practitioner, Female, MBBS, FRACGP
Dr Sabine studied medicine in Germany. Love pulled her to Australia. Dr Sabine performed her clinical training in Mackay and in Mareeba.
She fell in love with the Mareeba community and has worked here for the past 15 years.
Sabine enjoys the variety of her job as a GP and seeing all generations.

Dr Nathan Walmsley
General Practitioner, Male, MBBS, BspExSci
Dr Nathan Walmsey was born and raised in Far North Queensland and graduated from James Cook University with the first cohort of medical students in 2005.
After graduation he worked in Cairns, Atherton, Cooktown and Mareeba. He completed his specialist training in general practice in 2012 and completed a 12 month advanced diploma of Obstetrics and Gyneacology at Cairns Hospital.
In 2016 and 2017 he spent 18 months travelling and working around Australia with his wife and 3 children. Dr Walmsley is happy to be back working here and plans to be here long term.
He enjoys spending time with his family, running and is a leader of the Mareeba Baptist Church youth group.

Dr Grant Manypeney
General Practitioner, Male, MBBS, FRACGP, DipObs
Attended University of Adelaide Medical School followed by a Fellowship RACP in 1990.
Dr Manypeney worked in Darwin at the Royal Darwin Hospital from 1984 until 1987, then Queensland Health from 1987 to 1992 with stints in the UK and India.
Dr Manypeney began working at the Mareeba Medical Clinic in 1993. His medical interests are in musculoskeletal medicine, minor surgery, mental health and teaching medical students and registrars.
In his spare time Dr Manypeney enjoys cycling, golf, food, wine and travel.

Dr Sarah Smith
General Practitioner, Female, MBBS
Dr Sarah Smith (she/her) completed her General Practice training in Cairns. Dr Smith’s 25 year career has included remote locum positions in Queensland, Tasmania and Canada. Dr Smith is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta, Family Medicine Faculty and enjoys teaching medical trainees of all levels.

Longer consultations may be required for: Multiple or Complex problems, Procedures, Completion of forms or Mental Health Issues and counselling sessions.
Home Visits
Home visits are available for patients who are unable to travel to the practice due to ill health and are provided at the discretion of the doctor. If you need a home visit, please discuss with the reception staff.
Fees and Billing Arrangements
Mareeba Medical Clinic is mixed -billing practice. Please ensure that you bring your current Medicare, Centrelink, or Veterans’ Affairs card with you on each visit.
Mixed Billing Practice:
- Short Consultation: $60
- Standard Consultation: $110.00
- Long Consultation: $195.00
- Prolong Consultation: $290.00
A Medicare Rebate is paid directly to you, a refund of:
- Short Consultation: $19.60
- Standard Consultation: $42.85
- Long Consultation: $82.90
- Prolong Consultation: $122.15
Upon receipt of payment.
Bulk Billing Is available at doctor’s discretion for
- Concession Card Holders
- DVA Card holders
- Children 16 years and under
Fees can be paid by Cash, Cheque, EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard, Bankcard or Direct deposit
Medicare rebates can be processed from the clinic at the time of payment. Either by tapping back your EFTPOS card or Claims will be sent to Medicare where rebates will be deposited directly into your nominated bank account within 24 hours. If you have any issues you will need to contact Medicare directly.
Results
An appointment should be scheduled with your doctor at the clinic to obtain your results, for pathology, or any other test you may have had. Reception staff are unable to discuss specific results with you over the phone. Please take any paperwork given to you by the doctor as you may need these if you are required to attend an appointment elsewhere.

2.5. Privacy and confidentiality obligations
2.5.1. Policy
All information collected by this practice is deemed to be private and confidential. The right of every patient is respected.
This practice complies with federal and state privacy regulations including the Privacy Act 1988 and Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012 as well as complying with standards set out in the RACGP Privacy and managing health information in general practice. The RACGP Privacy and managing health information in general practice guideline is available through the RACGP.
Under no circumstances are members of the practice team to discuss or in any way reveal patient conditions or documentation to unauthorised staff, colleagues, other patients, family or friends, whether at the practice or outside it, such as in the home or at social occasions. This includes patient’s accounts, referral letters or other clinical documentation.
General practitioners and other practice team members are aware of confidentiality requirements for all patient encounters and recognise that significant breaches of confidentiality may provide grounds for disciplinary action or dismissal.
Every member of the practice team is aware of our Privacy Policy and has signed a privacy statement as part of their terms and conditions of employment or contract. This privacy statement continues to be binding even after the employment or contract has terminated.
2.5.2. Procedure
All members of the practice team are issued with the practice’s Privacy Policy and sign a privacy statement as part of their terms and conditions of employment or contract. The policies and procedures of the practice are further explained during the induction of new practice team members, and the induction form is signed by the new team member as confirmation that they understand and accept their obligations in relation to patient privacy and the confidentiality of personal health information.
